No Sun? No Problem. These Are the Worst Days (Calendar-Wise) to Get Married

Most people don’t know that rain forecasted on their wedding day is good luck. The Black Tux, a men’s upscale suit rental company who often helps grooms find the perfect look for themselves and their groomsmen, helped determine the best and worst days to get married based on what the forecast might be for those days in 2020.

Everyone has the idea of a perfect wedding day. At least, most women do. They’ve been encouraged to think about their wedding day and start planning it from the moment they know what a wedding dress is. Filled with taffeta and white flowers, their minds start creating the perfect atmosphere for their future wedding, and that likely includes what the weather would be like on the day they say, “I do.”

Let’s face it -- most brides take it a step further and choose a wedding date with the weather in mind. If you live in the south, for example, it’s likely you won’t be planning a mid-summer wedding considering the heat of the summer months and the heaviness of the humidity.

Who doesn’t picture their wedding day with moderate-to-perfect temperature, a sunny sky, and a picturesque backdrop? That’s right. Nobody. With that in mind, if you’re planning a wedding in 2020, you could use this data to help you pick the perfect day, weatherwise, for the big day.

It seems like yesterday was the first day of the holiday season, falling right after Thanksgiving. The holiday season is known for all of the engagements that seem to happen between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, but now that we’re just around the corner from Valentine’s Day, wedding season draws closer.

According to this study, Phoenix, Arizona has the first date that’s the “best day to get married” of the year. It falls on April 3rd which is much closer than it seems. Even though this date is kind of outside of the normal window of the wedding season, Arizona is known for its dry but oppressive heat. That being said, the wedding season runs from mid-May to late September. For some of these locations, the day with the best weather for a wedding might be outside of the wedding season window -- especially in areas of the southeast.

One of the best things you can do while planning a wedding and trying to choose a date is to have a backup plan. Instead of seeing the best days to plan a wedding based on the weather, it’s helpful to know the worst days for each location too.

With the precipitation data, The Black Tux was able to identify the dates for each of the major wedding destination cities that would be rainy, snowy, during hurricane season, or otherwise. It’s clear for some of these cities, spring and summer weddings are likely to have the best weather.

Depending on what the dreams of your big day look like to you, a bit of rain might not be a big deal. After all, it is good luck!
