In a simple term, defining a vivarium would accurately be an area, it could be referred to as a confined area that is enclosed with the aim of keeping plant and animal in for observation, monitoring, etc. While a lot of people have clearly made enough mistake on what a vivarium is and some are still actively making that error of mixing Vivarium with Terrarium. It is a mistake that could even happen to the best of us on days that one is off-colour or when a fellow has so much to battle with. The mistake is a forgivable one so doesn’t panic at all, due to their close relationship in nature and pronunciation or better still name. There are several obvious differences between them and because they both share a Latin suffix which clearly translates to a “container” does not necessarily mean that they are the same as they have undisputable and different prefixes.

An option to getting an exactly pond-like looking container is to create a Vivarium and build within it the image you desire. Of course, nothing comes on a platter of gold; you have to expend some energy in making it come to reality. As an individual who would like to hold in the vivarium plants and aquatics animal, then you need to understand which plant to include in your Vivarium. Plants are of different types, and not all are safe as we have seen some plants that not only that it is dangerous to the healthy living of aquatic animal it is also not good content for a balanced ecosystem. Another important factor one needs to keep in place is ensuring that not only that the plant is not dangerous but also beneficial in supporting the ecosystem.

For curious minds, the question keeps occurring on why the need for adding plants to Vivarium. It is just as good as asking why do you need oxygen as human, it has never been because of the aesthetics, but the plants inside it also determine the life inside the Vivarium. Asides the fact that they are a fantastic oxygen-producing source, they have also been found to be a good source of food and shelter. There are certain toxic metabolites that plants also help in getting rid off as one of the ways it benefits animals or aquatic lives. The rule is trying not to include so many plants to avoid an anaerobic situation.
